What is a TLD (Top Level Domain)?

Top Level Domain describes the extension at the very end of a domain name, for example .COM, .KIWI, .NZ, or .AU. It is important to know that TLD only refers to the final suffix; octopoly.COM is a domain under the TLD .COM. Some extensions allow the registration of domain names also under the Second Level, for example .CO.NZ or .COM.AU. For example octopoly.CO.NZ is a domain under the SLD .CO.NZ.
